Welcome

A little background on the foundation of Pickles & Popsicles…

P&P was founded by me, Whitney Hunter-Batteast, during my last pregnancy in 2019. While on the phone with a friend, I mentioned that I wanted my husband to bring home some pickles and popsicles, and my friend thought it would be a cute theme for my baby shower. I suggested that maybe it could be a community event for new moms. That night I ruminated over the idea, and the next day my friend and I talked out all the ideas in my head, and…

Pickles & Popsicles was born!

The passion for maternal health and postpartum care was birthed out of my own experiences and grew with each mother I encountered. P&P was created to be what mothers needed…SUPPORT. Living in a city with no family, we were grateful for the help we received from the few friends, co-workers, and church members here, but I relied heavily on phone calls, texts, video calls, and messages to stay in contact with friends and family from home. Though it may not have been ideal, I’m grateful for what we had.

My last pregnancy was ROUGH, and I counted on my support system to get me through.

It made me think about a mom who didn’t have a circle of support; people to call and cry to; someone to share your fears to. We want to be here for you through each stage of your pregnancy, birth, and especially postpartum. Moms who are supported have healthier pregnancies and have healthier babies who go on to be healthy adults. I am a firm believer that an emotionally supported mom will always result in a health outcome for babies and families.

Here at Pickles & Popsicles, we know it takes a village to raise a child, but we also believe that it takes a village to be a mom. Let us be your village!

XOXO,

Whitney
